The Bourbon Street building I stayed in during Gustav
This is the strong, well built (in approx. 1800) building that I live in/was in during Hurricane Gustav.
I was alone in the building during Gustav (all other tenants had evacuated New Orleans). Early on Gustav knocked out power to the building, and, at it's peak, it actually made the building "sway" and rock.
And all I could hear was howling wind, puncuated by the sound of windows being blown out/breaking glass.
But my laptop battery/internet connection held out, I was able to use Twitter to liveblog the experience at:
