    The Internet IS the People

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Writer and filmmaker InsideMenace opposes the anti-piracy bill SOPA that's now in Congress and shared his thoughts on video. The Broomfield, Colorado, resident is a regular contributor to CNN iReport, and is critical of CNN's coverage of SOPA: 'It makes me sad as a CNN iReporter that I am having trouble finding videos on this,' he said. Time Warner, the parent company of CNN, is among the industry supporters of the legislation. You can read more about the SOPA controversy on CNN.com.
    - katie, CNN iReport producer

Since it is hard to even find coverage on CNN (owned by Time Warner - one of the backers of SOPA PIPA), it is important you understand and take action against SOPA and PIPA. This is not about downloading illegal movies. This is about ownership of a free web. Below is where to find out more information. I urge you whether against it or even for it, speak out! 2011 was the year of the protests and if this passes I can't even begin to imagine the out roar. Do you think corporations own the internet? Sony was taken down. Do you think you sharing that funny video on youtube is what made it big? Reddit.com was the one to do that. Do you think Wikipedia exists without the people? It doesn't. The internet will change if these bills passed, or even changed to be watered down and it will not be a good change.

I love this community and what CNN is offering so I hope in the fashion of freedom of speech this is vetted and that more follow. Speak up and out. The modern age of how you communicate depends on it. It is no small matter when you can honestly use the words Big Brother and not be a mad conspiracy theorist.

NO SOPA and PIPA. The Internet is Freedom.
