John Mayer Cowboy Playing Under the Stars- NAMM Music Show 2012
The NAMM show will rock southern California over the next four days, with manufacturers of musical instruments, as well as a multitude of music related product manufacturers gathering to display their newest, best, and most exiting goods.
Musicians of all genres are there to play a lick or two, jazzing up the show! The NAMM show is not open to the public. It is retail store owners and people in the music industry that attend this world renowned show.
Special guests included; Kenny Wayne Shepard, Brian Wilson, Mike Huckabee, Michelle Phillips, and John Mayer.
John Mayer was there as the CF Martin Guitar Co. introduced a special guitar, the John Mayer Special Edition. Mayer's special requests and ideas helped create this guitar that is signed by Mayer and limited to 23. Mayer purchased two, "one to play and one to store; that's my rule" Mayer said.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who has attended NAMM for many years, was there. He is part of a charity that NAMM sponsors, The Wanna Play Fund; a charity which helps put musical instruments into the hands of children whose parents can't afford it. Huckabee believes that if students have access to music & arts, it "will be life changing for the students, & future changing for our country."
Singer-songwriter and producer Brian Wilson, founding member of the Beach Boys, received NAMM's Music for Life Award this year. He joins Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Yoko Ono, Quincy Jones, and last years winner, Lea Michele, to name a few.
Michelle Phillips was there for a special tribute to The Mamas and the Papas. Next report will feature an interview with Michelle Phillips and more from NAMM Show 2012!
