SOLO - Gary McKinnon protest at the British Home Office in London
At 4pm on the dot London time a stir of voices could be heard from my second floor apartment just feet from the British Ministry of Justice Home Office building. Across the street a large crowd of supporters for the alleged Super Hacker code named Solo - Gary McKinnon. After several appeals the United States has filed for extradition of Gary Mckinnon to try him in US courts. He could face up to 70 years in prison if convicted. Gary Mckinnon is charged with "the biggest military hack" in the world. In 1997 Using a dial-up modem this self proclaimed "bumbling computer nerd" allegedly managed to hack into 97 of the US government military and NASA's computers.
The protesters have been chanting. "Free Gary" and Gary, Gary, he's our man. If we can't have him no one can."
So far the protest has been peaceful in nature but there is a police presence outside just in case.
