    Clashes erupt in Romania

    More from mindcrusher

    Still no dialog

After 9 days of protests aimed mainly against president Traian Basescu, he still has no reaction. It’s like he disappeared. And this coming from a president who had almost daily press conferences or TV/radio appearances. At least we made his daily teachings about economy, law, health, education etc. stop.

We are now in the situation where we have a ruling party trying everything to discredit our protest, when we mainly demanded respect and their attention.
They tried to make us look like hooligans, when you can easily see that the streets are occupied by the ones that are the most preoccupied about our society, the ones that want and can imagine a better situation for Romania or desperate people.
They tried to associate our protest with the opposition parties and make it look like we want the power for ourselves or that we’re payed to protest. Our message is making these things clear.

They’re so stuck in their politics that they’re forgetting they purpose in those offices: To represent us and, when the situation calls, to come with dignity and respect and explain their decisions and choices. They are acting as oppressive rulers instead of elected individuals that are responsible for their actions and decisions.

After more than a week of protest, we are spending more time trying to legitimise our protest than going on a path of addressing and solving the problems.
