My most horrific childhood story is when my mother picked up a visibally drunk woman outside of a bar. She felt sorry for the woman and was concerned for her safety. This woman sat between my younger brother and I in the back of a Chevette, circa 1978. My mother never saw evil in anyone, and was a true Christian in every sense of the word. Well, the other day it all came full-circle when I picked up this very pregnant young woman at a bus stop because I felt bad she had to take the bus in such hot weather. My nine year old son said, after she departed our car, "Well, that was interesting and something I will never forget." I am my mother....
