On Overnight Bible Exposition, Preacher Encourages Guests to Be Spiritually Awake
Listening to him were guests in more than 85 locations in six continents gathered at Members Church of God International (MCGI) chapters. They were waiting for their turn to ask the international evangelist about matters of faith and spirituality via the Internet and satellite.
Reading I Corithians 15:34, Bro. Eli stressed that “awaking in righteousness is important.” He said this after pointing out that life-taking calamities that we see now are part of God’s warning or giving of signs for our minds to be aware of his teachings in the Scriptures.
“There are people who do not acknowledge God, who are asleep in righteousness, buried in vices,” he continued. These are people, he said, who are physically alive but are spiritually asleep, citing I Timothy 5:6. “They don’t understand the spiritual side of life. They only see the material,” he added.
Which is why the preacher expressed he is hopeful that in continuing these Bible Expositions “not only on television, but on satellite and on the Internet,” they will be able to help people find delight in their heart “in sharing these moments of study of the words of God with us.”
MCGI Vice Presiding Minister Bro. Daniel Razon introduces each guest to ask Bro. Eli a question via live video streaming. The bulk of questions from Asia and Australia came till about midnight. Afterwards, MCGI’s leaders entertained queries coming from Europe and the Americas. At about 2 a.m. however, the screen would flash guests from Bicol and other provinces sitting in line and waiting for their turn to ask Bro. Eli.
The question-and-answer portion of the program lasted till 4 a.m.
Bro. Eli answered guests in Latin America with the aid of interpreters: one for Portuguese and one for Spanish. He also commissioned interpreters to translate the exposition in real-time in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
The Marathon Bible Exposition started on December 18 last year from 8 in the morning till night. It is the latest addition to Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon’s evangelization initiatives. As the preacher recalled, they started the Bible Expositions in barrios, towns, and cities in the 70s, and on television in the 90s.
“We are the only ones who do this: sharing with people in the nearest way possible, wherein you will not spend money, but you will gain things needed by our souls.”
