Review of Rosa Mexicano on Sunset in West Hollywood
I recommend their delicious Pomegrant Margarita kicked it off and was exactly what I was in the mood for on a unseasonably warm and sunny LA January. The margarita was light, refreshing AND (my favorite) frozen! When you get to have the combination of fresh toritilla chips still hot to the touch, a cute waiter who made quacamole to order at our table .. well I'm in heaven and feeling NO pain!
As we perused the menus the chef was kind enough to bring out an appetzier (amuse-bouche) that really set the tone for the meal. It was Mexican food but with unexpected combinations, tastes, seasonings and with a modern edge that can only be made by an adventurous chef named Sam Christopher (LOVE HIM)!
I was very happy at the selections they had to offer for lunch time diners (everyone is busy and sometimes you just want a fast tasty healthy lunch with colleagues) with a sepearate lunch menu for those with a time crunch and it had healthy selections! I of course made a beeline for the sandwiches since I was craving carbs and usually get tacos, enchiladas, burritos or a salad. The waiter suggested the Beef sandwich since it was light and would be too heavy for us working stiffs. I liked the tender beef, spiciness and of course I NEVER say no to sweet potato fries that are cooked perfectly, crisp & light!!
I finished off the meal with a few bites of the Flan de Rosa which is a delicious expresso flan with a cup of coffee where my companion and I chatted about food, dating and living in the hustle bustle of Los Angeles. Aftewards I looked around the restaurant and took a few photos for cherrylosangeles @youtube. I learned they have music, a GREAT happy hour (can't beat 1/2 off!) and it attracts a great mix of Hollywood/Sunset people (so lots of eye candy). Nothing makes happy hour more fun than a good mix of people, plenty of seating, the ability to carry on a conversation and good prices for food/drins and FLIRTING!
I have to say that I'm impressed with this location and the decoations are bright, cheerful, open and perfect for hanging out with friends! I was super happy to learn that they have valet service in the evenings or you can find parking on the street or any number of garages. As anyone who's tried to meet up with friends on Sunset that parking can be really hard and just makes the evening start off bad if you have to fight traffic but the management of Rosa Mexicano took that in consideration to make your dining easy!
So if your ever in Hollywood on Sunset looking for a great place to grab lunch, dinner or drinks at a full bar look no further than Rosa Mexicano. AND if you want company look my way and drop me a note. I know what I want to order .. a margarita and fresh made in front of you guacamole!!!!
