    St. John's Hospital Building Begins Demolition After Joplin Tornado

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     BethanyS shot this video on January 29 in Joplin, MO, of a demolition and ground-breaking ceremony for the planned reconstruction of St. John's hospital, which was destroyed by the tornado that leveled the town last May. 'It was a beautiful picture of what community really should be: Neighbor helping neighbor and stranger helping stranger,' she said. 'It will be nice one day when all traces of tornado damage are gone, but that will be a while still. I have friends who still cannot drive through the devastated area, because their kids cover their eyes and cry.'

    After being destroyed by the Joplin tornado, it is time to say goodbye to the old St. John's hospital building and begin construction on the new facility. A dual ceremony was held to begin demolition of the building that housed the hospital for almost 45 years and then break ground at the new location a few miles away.
