    Freezing rain hits Bucharest

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Cosmin Stan, of Bucharest, Romania, took these pictures of frozen rain in Pipera, a small district in the north part of Bucharest, on Sunday, February 5. The ice was blanketed with a new layer of snow later that evening.

After 2 days of heavy snow, temperatures in the Romanian capital city, Bucharest, has risen and the snow turned into a freezing rain. Everything was icy this morning in and around Bucharest: trees, cars, houses and especially roads. Temperatures on the ground are around 0 degrees Celsius after a week of incredible cold and -23 degrees. A warm wet air from the Mediterranean came across the country bringing heavy rains that instantly freezed when hiting the ground with colder air.
