Best French Quarter Breakfast
You're going to discover a VAST array of dishes in New Orleans and all of them are wonderful and MOST of them will either be for dinner or lunch. So, rather than dwell on the obvious, let's talk BREAKFAST for a minute.
You're up, you're in the French Quarter and, NO, a "Horny Gator" does NOT sound good right now. You want to get some good food in your stomach to make up for the party-hearty drinking you did the night before, right? Well, I think I may have the solution.
Tucked right in the corner of Jackson Square is The Stanley, a cozy cafe with the great taste of the Big Easy. If you love Eggs Benedict, I URGE you to try the "Breaux Bridge Benedict." Don't be expecting some simple dish on English muffins. We're talkin' two perfectly poached eggs on top of (are you ready for this??) BOUDIN patties, and cheese on a toasted French baguette with little bits of ham sprinkled around and Hollandaise sauce on top of it all.
Break the yolk on these eggs and let it ooze down the stack and it's just WONDERFUL! The boudin has excellent flavor with just the right amount of spice. If you want a little extra kick, try this with some "Crystal" brand hot sauce on it - a local favorite. That and some good, strong Community coffee gets the morning off right.
Don't come to The Stanley and expect a "Grand Slam" breakfast. The inviting hospitality and the food, sets itself apart and will get you ready for a morning of more WALKING, photo-taking, and partying the night ahead. ENJOY!!
