I am America |
I am America - American Revolution Powder Horn
Powder Horn belonging to my 6XGreat Grandfather, Cpl. Daniel Parke (1758-1836), Connecticut Militia, 1776. On display at the New York Historical Society, NYC. (http://www.nyhistory.org/node/44053)

Originally from Chatham, CT, Daniel Parke responded to the call for troops in Lexington. He fought with Washington's army during the memorable winter at Valley Forge. He eventually found himself stationed in Fort Stanwix, Rome, NY, and soon became fond of the area. He was personal acquaintances of Baron von Steuben and George Washington.
After the war he eventually moved his family to Upstate, NY where he helped to form my hometown of Camden, NY.
