    American Idol Hollywood Week Drama

309 hopefuls took to the stage this week to continue singing their way toward the live performances on FOX's singing TV competition, 'American Idol - Season 11'.

The ratings are down a bit for this year - there were no major changes in the judges, or the format. Producers claim this is due to increased competition from similar shows - i.e. 'X-Factor', and 'The Voice'.

So, how can they spruce up 'Hollywood Week'? Well apparently with lots of new drama - and medics lol.

I have to mention Jim Carrey's daughter Jane, he of "Dumb and Dumber." fame. Unfortunately, her cover of CCR's "Lookin' Out my Back Door" wasn't very good, and even if Jane has her father's charisma, she was still sent home.

Now the headliner moment has to go to Symone Black. She sang Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay.”, and we liked it. But after some playful banter with Randy Jackson, she seemed to lose consciousness and she fell off the stage!

After these memorable moments Wednesday  night, the Thursday night show was anti-climatic and a bit slow. Symone was revealed to be OK, but the contestants had to form groups of 4 to 5, and several were left outside looking in.

Obviously looking to increase the ratings, there were hints of more medics to come (The flu apparently went thru much of the cast), and we can look forward to many fights - and back stabbing - next week, along with the first performances for the week in Hollywood.
