    AT&T 100% upgrade fee increase

So I work for AT&T Mobility and we recently received a company wide email regarding an increase in the upgrade fee customers are charged. It is going up from $18 to $36 effective 2/12/12. Apparently, the cost of upgrading and changing equipment has gone up and so the increase of the upgrade fee is suppose to be justified. Of course, us sales people who work at the bottom can't question it. We just do as we are told. Yet, we are the ones who suffer the fury of consumers when we tell them "Aside from recently bumping up the price of your data plan, that'll be an additional $72 for upgrading both your lines on your account." As for the increased costs of upgrading...I really don't see it. They've already restructured our compensation where the average Sales Consultant makes $1000 less in commissions per month. We get non stop emails telling us how we have had the best quarterly profits to date. It's like AT&T is trying to LOSE customers. All of us believe it has to do with the failed attempt at acquiring TMobile. All of us working in Sales, who see the frustration in customers faces when we tell them there's a charge for this, a charge for that are tired of it! It's one thing that our company takes money from our own pockets, it's another when they start charging customers fees for NOTHING! I hope that by me sending this email to CNN, enough media pressure can be put on AT&T so it is forced to reverse this ridiculous upgrade fee increase, just like it happened to Verizon when they attempted to charge customers a fee for paying their bills with a credit card. I wish to remain anonymous since I still am currently employed by At&t. Thank you and best regards!
