    Remembering Whitney Houston

    Whitney before she was WHITNEY.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     CaribDiva of Marietta, Georgia, says Whitney Houston's first album will always have a special place in her heart. She bought the album for her then-boyfriend, Jean, as "You Give Good Love" was their song. The pair went to see Houston perform at a coffeehouse on the NYU campus. 'Several times over the years, I have left voicemails with nothing else but this song playing. This was our song and will always be our song even though we're not together,' she said, adding that they remain friends.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

My fondest memory of Whitney was watching one of her first performances. She performed while I was in college at NYU's campus coffeehouse. This was in the early 80s after her first album was released. "You Give Good Love" was the soundtrack to my love affair with my boyfriend at the time. I purchased the album for him and we were thrilled to go see her perform the song live.

Throughout my life her music continued to be my soundtrack. When I gave birth to my son "I will always love you" was my song for him. I looked at my son last night and told him just that!

I feel great empathy for Bobbi Christina. My mother also died at the all too young age of 48. I hope Bobbi takes great comfort in the outpouring of love and support that is coming from all over the planet. This outpouring of love and support is a testament to the fact that Whitney Houston was and will always be remembered as one of the GREATEST voices of all time - period!

Sadly, that romantic night on the campus of NYU was the first and last time I would ever see her perform live.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston....I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!
