Remembering Whitney Houston |
Putting things in perspective
We lost a legend far too soon, and Ms. Houston's legacy no doubt will live on. She is missed and the world is a better place because of her unmatched talent and unselfish contributions to various causes. RIP Whitney.
We should also remember the other heroes we've also lost recently. In the eight days since Ms. Houston's death, the Pentagon has announced the following losses:
Army Sgt. Jerry D. Reed II
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Kyler L. Estrada
Army Pfc. Cesar Cortez
Marine Lance Cpl. Osbrany Montes De Oca
Each died, not in a hotel in LA, but overseas, far from home, and their funerals will likely be in neighborhood places of worship, not much different than New Hope Baptist Church. And their average age was less that half that of Ms. Houston.
Keep all in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of those who have given so much to us -- Jerry, Kyler, Cesar, Osbrany, and Whitney.
