‘Doctor Who’ turns 50
Checked out the 23rd Annual Gallifrey Con (Doctor Who) in Los Angeles

I had a great time with taking a few photos during the evening festivities that included a karaoke, costume competition and just people chatting about Doctor Who! So of course being me I had to create my own video that I've uploaded to my YouTube Channel CherryLosAngeles named Los Angeles Gallifrey One Doctor Who Fest 2012 with some of my favorite outfits and of course a little TimeWarp! Sadly my friends and I signed up way too late to get up and serenade our fellow Whovians! But I had a good time. It's a very different more adult vibe than the other conventions I've attending over the years. I've always found that Star Wars and Star Trek is all ages where and during the day so it's very family friendly. I'm sure if I'd gond earlier in the evening that it would have been a little more PG but after 11pm well it's the adults out to play. Lots of guys playing some sort of card games, private parties (invite only), people grabbing drinks at the hotel bar and just meeting up with convention friends. I've always loved the welcome and friendly people who attend Science Fiction Conventions and this was no different. People were happy to answer questions about how they made their outfits, pose for photos and just chatter about living the Cosplay life. I just can't imagine how they store these outfits and if they wear them every year! I've never been one to get dressed up but do appreciate the creativity of those who can and do!!! It was sort of interesting that their were so many of the new Doctor Who outfits but I'm a David Tennant fan so was super happy at all the cute guys in suits with converse shoes! So if your a Doctor Who fan make sure you attend the 24th conventino in Los Angeles and get ready for a lot of fun!
Gallifrey One, the annual North American Doctor Who celebration, is the world's largest and longest-running annual Doctor Who convention.
Why should you come to Gallifrey One?
Click here and we'll tell you!
Founded in 1989 by members of the local Southern California fan organization, the Time Meddlers of Los Angeles, Gallifrey One Conventions has run an event every year since 1990, and has over time become one of the world's most popular fan-run themed events devoted to the series and its spinoffs.
While very much a modern celebrity-driven convention, Gallifrey One stays extremely close to its roots in "old school" fandom: one admission cost for nearly everything at the event, with no preferred seating or tier packages, where pros and fans alike mix throughout the day. Our convention still boasts a classic-style art show, a hospitality suite (or "con suite") with free snacks for convention members, a supervised children's program room, hallway fan tables available for free to clubs and conventions, and specialized costuming events, as well as a dealers room, video program and special themed events. Plus, unlike other celebrity shows, our event goes well into the evening on Friday and Saturday nights with extensive evening programming, dances and karaoke, and a fully judged Masquerade.
With over 300 guests spanning twenty-two years, Gallifrey One has hosted (with only two exceptions)every living principal cast member of Doctor Who, as well as many behind-the-scenes guests, from the end of the William Hartnell era in 1966, to the end of the classic series in 1989 and the 1996 TV movie, including Carole Ann Ford, Anneke Wills and more.....
