Children of South African Townships
- ssesha, CNN iReport producer
These are a few of the beautiful, friendly children of Claremont Township (shanty town) near Durban, South Africa.
While in South Africa, I got to spend some time in Claremont and meet some very interesting people.
Many of the children I met were very friendly and eager to have their pictures taken. They would see their image on my camera screen and be thrilled, smiling and giggling happily.
One child in particular said to me, "Today is a very special day because I had my first picture made."
After returning home to New York City, I printed out all the photos I took and mailed them to my friend in South Africa. He made sure to give a copy to all the children pictured in this photo essay.
