As the outcast at Mountain Brook Jr High, the one solace I had was music. When The Monkees came to Birmingham, Davy Jones was the most gracious pop star. He not only gave me an autograph but he gave me a hug. To that lonely child who never fit in, that moment was a turning point. For helping to show me that I was somebody led to a tiny step towards self acceptance and love. For that single gesture, I will always be eternally thankful. Now, that one happy moment is gone. Would I have rather missed it? No way. Rest in Peace...
