    Chinese Nine Emperor Gods!


    Nine Emperor Gods Festival in Malaysia, Penang

    Yellow flags that symbolise the coming Nine Emperor Gods (Kew Ong Yeah) festival will be seen everywhere in Penang island as the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar draws near. The Taoist Tow Boo Keong temples in Penang will prepare for the nine-day celebration during the Nine Emperor Gods Celebration. Free vegetarian food will be served at the temple during the nine-day period. The festival is dedicated to the nine sons of Tou Mu, Goddess of the North Star, who is said to control the books of life and death. Picture 1 & 2 = people holding family cloths cross the fire to get away the evil and bad luck. Picture 3 = Nine Emperor Gods. The followers also hold the Nine Emperors Gods cross the fire during the festival. For those who travel to Malaysia in October, you may want to catch this unforgettable festival.
