Remembering Davy Jones
Finally... I Get A Kiss!
we gathered around our friend's TV in the late summer
of 1967 to watch their show-- The Monkees opened up a
whole new world for us! We started listening to Top 40 radio and using words like "groovy, keen and psychedelic", ha! We followed the careers of Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike long after the show was cancelled and on into the 70's, 80's, 90's, etc. We used to save our allowance (25 cents a week back then) just so we could get to the grocery store to buy the latest "Tiger Beat", "Flip" , "16" and "Fav" magazines. Our walls were plastered with Monkee everything! The summer of 2011 my sister said to me "The Monkees 45th reunion tour is coming to the Mountain Winery, wanna go?" This was near our hometown in San Jose, CA. This would require an overnight trip for us as we live out of state now. We just kept saying "LET'S DO IT, this could be the last time we see them together". Little did we know it would be. We are very fortunate to have had that opportunity because a month later the tour ended abruptly. So, I'm posting this picture of Irma and Davy from the early 1990's, Davy was appearing at a book signing in Santa Rosa, CA so my sister jumped in her car and drove from San Jose to Santa Rosa JUST to see Davy Jones... and she said to him "I've waited over 20 years to ask you for a kiss" -- so Davy complied, ha! GREAT memories... and we are so saddened and shocked at his passing. We love you Davy, thank you for everything.
