    The World's Most Photographed Cat

This is Toby. His momma was found wandering around our property a few years ago. We fed her and she graced us with 3 litters of kittens before we could catch her and get her fixed. Toby was in batch #3.

I say Toby is "the most photographed cat in the world" because he's an easy model for my photographer wife. She started taking pictures of him when he was just a few weeks old. He didn't care - he loved the attention. She'd start setting her studio and, the moment he saw the lights flashing, he'd come in and get settled for his pictures. In a bowl, in a chair, on a pillow, bench, whatever he'd just make himself comfortable and blink every time the flash went off.

We moved into a new house and it was several months before we were able to set the studio back up. When we did, it was as if we'd never taken it down. Toby came in, plopped himself up on a stool and sat there, waiting to have his picture taken. My wife will dress him up, depending on the occasion. He also comes in to have his picture taken with actual clients. They don't seem to mind; makes a good gimmick in the photos.

Yes, Toby is a "fat" cat. At one time he weighed in, at the vet's, at 24 pounds. The vet was certain he had feline diabetes but, they ran the tests and,  fortunately, he doesn't. So, now he's on a controlled diet. He doesn't seem to mind too much, except maybe for the latent frequency of his food bowl getting filled. He doesn't eat much, but then he doesn't MOVE very much either. We've bought him toys (we usually tell people when they come into our living room, "we don't have a two-year-old, we have Toby"), but he just sits there and watches the mechanical mice run around as if to say, "yeah, okay, cute, so what?"

To date, he HAS lost some weight. We're not sure how much, but we have noticed he's able to clean himself better than before. I'm sure Toby will always be a fat cat. If anyone wants to see his progress, he DOES have a Facebook page. .....told ya.....
