Egyptian women march to parliament on International Women's Day

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     arasquare shot these photos and video of a march in Cairo, Egypt, protesting the treatment of women demonstrators by the country's police forces, and calling for women to take a greater role in Egypt's formative government. 'This protest was different from last year's protest because it focused more on the political rights of women, but there were also chants against SCAF's [Supreme Council of Armed Forces] violence against women,' he said.
    - jmsaba, CNN iReport producer

Thousands of women rights supporters marched to the Egyptian parliament on Thursday, March 8, as part of the International Women's Day. They held signs and chanted for including women as half of the constitution writing committee. The march was organized by a number of women rights organizations in an attempt to draw public attention to women's issues.
