The Chase 8 Send Chase Bank's CEO a Birthday Message

The group some media have dubbed the "Chase 8" descended on a local branch of Chase Bank. The group, made up of members of Occupy Atlanta and led by Carmin Pittman, were stopped by local police before they could enter the Piedmont Branch of Chase Bank. Carmin Pittman claims that her and her family are the victims of predatory loan practices. Carmin, along with Occupy Atlanta, demand that Chase return the deed to her home. According to members of Occupy Atlanta, there are as many as ten U.S. cities that will see branches of Chase Bank being 'occupied’. Today marks the birthday of Chase Bank’s well known CEO Jamie Dimon. He is the current chairman, president and chief executive of JPMorgan Chase. Born March 13, 1956, Dimon has been regularly declared by Time magazine as one of the world’s one hundred most influential people.

I am currently working on a protracted story for CNN television about the Pittman family and their struggle against Chase Bank. We have been hoping to go to air with this story for weeks. But, the more I dig, the deeper it goes. In an against the grain decision, I decided to go back to the power of iReport to share pieces of this complicated story as they unfold. May the new media journalism gods put the wind in my sails.
