Adventurers love history and Croatia is a historical and architectural gold mine. Despite a massive earthquake in 1667 that killed thousands of inhabitants and toppled most of the city’s renaissance styled structures, Dubrovnik nevertheless retained a few iconic landmarks that represent its architectural ancestry. This photo reveals the beautiful sunlit rooftops of Old Town "Stari Grad" Dubrovnik. In the forefront we see the grand spire of the Romanesque-Gothic styled Franciscan monastery. Today the Franciscan monastery houses one of Europe’s most extensive libraries of antique books and documents.
