    The Tower Of Auckland

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Dovinator, of Auckland, New Zealand, shot these pictures from the top floor of Skycity Tower. The pictures show a 360-degree view of Auckland, boats, a yacht race and bungee jumping from the tower. He says his favorite part of the tower was the elevator ride.

    Locals are the worst strangers in their own town. It took us many years before we actually made a visit to our city's most iconic structure - The Skycity Tower.

     

    It is the southern hemisphere's tallest man made object, towering at over 300 meters. From its top where dined then marveled at the city's 360 degree view - we fully understood why Auckland is called the city of sails; why there's so much excitement over the Volvo Yacht Race; why my son freaked out for standing on the elevator's transparent glass floor as we went up and down the tower; and why us Kiwis are so proud to be one of Hollywood's destinations for movie special effects.
