We must do more to protect the gay community

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     omekongo recently met some people from Project Stripes, a social outreach club for LGBT in Washington, D.C., and after having a few conversations, he believes we need to be doing more to protect gays. 'People should not be targeted for how they look or how they speak,' he said. 'As a person living in a community that's been targeted in the past, as a person in the black community, I can't see myself letting that happen to other people.'
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

The recent rise in attacks on members of the gay community in Washington, DC is truly troubling. You can believe that gays are going straight to hell, but let the God you claim to believe in deal with that. All human life is equal and no one has the right to take another person's life when that victim has done harm to no one. We have to do better.
