Reason Rally: National Mall, Washington D.C.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     navidbaraty attended the reason rally and Washington, D.C. and he says the emotion of energy at the rally was incredible. He said it felt as though everyone was taking part in something that was important. "They were proud to be standing up for what they believe in a society that is often hostile or discriminatory toward their beliefs," he says. He says he took part in the secular movement because it was historic and he wanted to be a part of it. Overall he says the message he got from the rally was to unite and empower all types of people from atheist to non-atheists to secularists and other non-believers. - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Roughly 20,000 people gathered yesterday at the National Mall in Washington D.C. for the Reason Rally, the largest secular gathering in history. The rally aimed to unite those with similar beliefs and show the American public that the number of people who refuse a belief in god is growing. The event brought together a mix of white and black, young and old, Asian and Hispanic, religious and non-religious.
