I felt it was important for me to take this photo due to the racial profiling I have received during my lifetime. I traveled to countries where I was hated for being an American, which was ok with me because I am proud to be American and that was my choosing. However, I have experienced racial profiling because I “fit the description” of someone authorities were seeking. Though I am proud, I was born with a color given to me by my God and I had no say in His selection. As the father of three boys who like me were born black, I must raise them to understand that people will fear them simply because they look like they are “up to no good.” I can only hope and pray that this will not happen to them.
