Who taught you to love food? |
CHICKEN CONES
So of course, I became a cookbook author. In 1971 my third children's book "The Little Witch's Black Magic Cookbook" was published with Prentice-Hall, Inc. written by me -Linda Glovach. (Don't worry, no black magic here, just a little girl I decided to put in a witch's costume for fun)
This started the Little Witch's holiday, activity, story books published throughout the 1970's and 80's. In each book is a recipe section. Almost all can be made by children themselves with little supervision.
"Chicken Cones" from her first book is the one I thought you and the kids?? might like. It's still my favorite and got me really excited about food (for fussy eaters)
Julia Child (The French Chef) reviewed it in the New York Times and I was terrified but she said it was one of The Little Witch's greater recipes. Here it is:
Chicken Cones (2 sevings)
1 cup leftover chicken or canned chicken
1 tbsp. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
2 ice cream cones-prefer cone waffle ones.
Spread the chicken into small pieces in a bowl. Add mayo, relish, mix real good. Put half the mixture into each cone.
I still get inventive with food and if this works might have a few more coming your way when appropriate.
The books are no longer being printed but you can still find them in libraries or on-line.
