    Catholics Observe Palm Sunday

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JherryPhons says Palm Sunday was introduced to the Filipinos by the Spaniards in the early 1500's and the religious tradition is still widely observed in the country today. He says in the Philippines people use coconut leaves instead of palm leaves, which they cut and fold, transforming them into bird and butterfly like leaf sculptures.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Millions of Catholics attended mass today in the Philippines to mark the beginning of the Holy Week - Palm Sunday. This custom commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. This Filipino tradition was introduced by the Spaniards on early 1500's and still being practiced today.
