Life with autism: Share your story

    No Positive to Autism Epidemic

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     lewismc98 says his 7-year-old son, Ben, was diagnosed with autism shortly before his second birthday. He has rigid obsessive-compulsive disorder behaviors, and in this video, he is crying 'because someone in the house (possibly one of his two older siblings) didn't close a door -- either a kitchen cupboard or the garage door or the front door -- the right way.' He says we should be 'beyond awareness' about autism. 'We should be in a panic, worried about what happens when these kids reach adulthood, worried about why we can't figure out what is really going on with these kids.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Honestly, would you ask a family dealing with any other disease - bipolar disorder, or Alzheimer's, or cardiac disease, or cystic fibrosis - about the positive aspects of living with that disease?

We struggle daily with this devastating disease.
