This past summer I returned back to China for the first time in 6 years. Having been only 13 the last time I went, this time I was 19 years old and college freshman. The China I remembered was vastly different. I saw China with new eyes and gained a deeper sense of pride for my own culture. I saw how people truly lived and how the country was adjusting from the old to the new. Walking along The Bund, a heavily infested tourist spot of Shanghai, I saw a man who was trying to sell kites to all the tourist and children. With several unsuccessful attempts he finally gave up with a brief moment of disappointment. Rather than dwelling in his disappointment he continues to walk along The Bund with a smile and the humming of a song enjoying the pleasures of life and flying his kite.
