Titanic Remembered
- ssesha, CNN iReport producer
On April 15th, 1912 the greatest marine tragedy in modern history took place a few hundred miles off the coast of Canada when the pride of the White Star line the unsinkable "Titanic" struck an iceberg and quickly sank taking the lives of 1,514 passengers and crew with her to the bottom of the sea. There isn't much about the Titanic that hasn't already been said starting with the first comprehensive story of the passengers themselves in the mid 1950's book "A Night to Remember" by Walter Lord. In this new first-of-it's kind exhibit at the National Maritime Museum of Britain we see the Titanic tragedy from the reflective perspective of many carefully preserved artifacts from the passengers themselves. One gets a genuine feel for what it must have been like to live through and feel the pain that they must have all suffered.
My daughter was honored to have a chance to perform the theme song to the James Cameron movie, "Titanic". As a fellow Canadian we're sure he'd be proud to see and hear her perform it, I hope you're watching James.
