High Road to China
We left Lhassa my truck. The road was easy, then turned steep, to gravel, then clay and nothing but road washouts and incredible landscapes out of northern Africa.
Our driver did not speak English, we only knew we were headed to the Chinese border by a shortcut that would save many days. The photos really could fill 100 albums there are so many. But as we got further up, we left civilization entirely. We were strangers in a strange land. We had no backup, no phones and no control over the mountains, floods or avalanches. Foreign country: is my home ground.
