    Day of Valor in Bataan

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Sherbien, of Quezon City, Philippines, attended the Day of Valor held at the Shrine of Valor in Mt. Samat, Bataan, for the first time. 'Thousands of veterans, boy scouts and girl scouts and some American soldiers flocked the Day of Valor,' he says. 'President Benigno Aquino is also the guest of honor and speaker during the 70th commemoration of Day of Valor. He also pays tribute to our unsung heroes during WWII.' Sherbien says on his journey to the Shrine of Valor, three hours away, he remembered his name was derived from his grandfather Sergeant Bienvinido who died at the Death March in 1942. 'They converted Sergeant to Sher and get Bien from Bienvinido, they joined together making it Sherbien,' he says.
    - ssesha, CNN iReport producer

During this day, I commemorate the death of my grandfather who died at the Death March. According to my father, my name was derived from his name Sergeant Bienvinido. Ther derived Sher from Sergeant and Bien from Bienvinido, they joined it together making my name Sherbien.

The Day of Valor is attended by Filipino veterans as well as some American veterans who fought during the fall of Bataan in April 9, 1942.

The event is attended by President Aquino, former President Ramos, Japam Ambassadoe Toshinao Urabe and US Embassy representative Terry Sanders.
