Chan Chan is the largest pre-Columbian city in Latin America. This adobe city was built around AD 850 and lasted until its conquest by the Inca empire in AD 1470.  It's thought that around 30,000 people lived in Chan Chan at its peak. Chan Chan was added as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986.
