    I did Marry My Prom Date almost 42 Years Ago.

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Ryn says she and her husband-to-be were more concerned with getting married and finding a new home before he shipped out overseas than going to her senior prom. But they went anyway to be with friends, and less than a month later they were married.

    We met in 1966. I was a freshman and he was a junior. We started going "steady" .
    His Senior Prom was in 1968 and my Senior Prom was in March 1970. Neither of us were really into the prom scene but decided to go to both senior proms. The day of my senior prom we had been out looking for an apartment as we were going to be married in May. He was in the Air Force and due to go over seas in June. I did not have a new prom dress so I took the same one I wore for his senior prom and put a blue velvet band on the empire waist. I did not want a corsage so he gave me a single red rose.
    We did marry in May 1970 and will celebrate our forty second wedding anniversary this year.
    We have five children and six grandchildren that we adore.

    My Mom has all the photos of us prior to 1968 and will not give them up.
    Here is to 40 more years!
