Titanic 100 Years Ago Today "Her Heart Will Go On And On"
The RMS Titanic sank after hitting an ice berg in the north Atlantic in the early-morning hours of April 14 - 15, 1912. It was the worst peacetime maritime accident in history.
Over 1,500 people, including Captain Smith, went down with the ship. Only about 700 souls survived.
Now, 100 years later, it's considered one of the greatest disasters of the 20th century, and it's the basis of one of the biggest movies of the 20th century that was just re-released in 3-D.
Here are 10 famous pictures culled from Google Images from 1912 to the present day. They range from artist renditions to photos from the salvage expeditions that took place in the 1980's.
Many of the pieces are on display in museums around the world, from New York to Southampton.
"The Unsinkable Molly Brown" will never be forgotten. God bless all the souls that went down with her...
