    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     eresa says the Aliwan festival celebrates the variety of cultures and heritages in the Philippines. 'Every region has its own unique culture and they interpret it through street dancing and colorful traditional costumes,' he says. He says one of his favorite parts of the festival is the street dance parade. 'Aliwan Fiesta is not just an ordinary festival. There is more to it than dancing on the street. It's all about showing how religion, culture and traditions enriched and affects the Filipinos existence today,' he says.

    Aliwan Festival or Fiesta is an annual event and considered as the gatherings of different cultural festivals in the Philippines, from Luneta Grandstand in Manila, contingents compete in dance parade and float competitions. This event is being dubbed as "The Mother of All Fiestas" which began in 2003, it aims to showcase the different Filipino cultures and heritage not only to the people in Metro Manila but also to the rest of the world. The contingents, meanwhile, aim to promote their respective regions both economically and tourism-wise.
