    Surging gas prices

    More from GQuirin

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     GQuirin told me, 'Driving a motorhome that gets 10 mpg doesn't feel too great when gas is over $4 a gallon. I didn't purchase gas from this station. I drove to the next station and paid $4.88 gallon. However I did see other RV's and vehicles fuel up at $5.79 a gallon. I'm saddened to see prices this high. Our family will likely not travel with our RV this summer. I personally don't expect prices to drop back under $4 anytime soon.'

Soon you might find yourself discussing amongst your friends the days of $4 dollar a gallon gasoline. I think we can forget about gas dropping back to $4 dollars a gallon for this summer. I snapped this photo with my wife’s iphone yesterday when leaving Death Valley National Park. Last year, I posted a similar photo when gas was at $5.40 a gallon. With prices soaring out of control, camping and weekend road trips will likely be restricted for most Americans. Our 800 mile camping trip cost us just over $400 in fuel.
