This iReport is part of an assignment:
Destination U.S.A.: Santa Fe |
Inspirational Santa Fe
The City is characterized by beautiful adobe architecture. It is magical when the sun casts different shadows on the walls of these buildings and the way the brown walls act as a backdrop for colorful patterns that abound everywhere, in form of flora, sculpture gardens, and of course people.
The historical downtown area of the city is filled with boutique stores with high end finds and many indie restaurants. There is the palace of governors, which is the oldest continuously occupied public building in the United States. Artisans from nearby pueblos sell their handmade jewelry creations here. It is fascinating to hear them talk passionately about their creations and how they were inspired to create it.
Santa Fe is an art lover's paradise. Hundreds of art galleries and around a dozen museums abound the city. Most of the galleries are located on either side of the canyon road where one can linger around, browsing the artist works.
It is not hard to see why artists like Georgia O'Keeffe, Ansel Adams and the likes, were, and still are drawn to this place full of stunning vistas, cultural richness and alluring spirit.
