Tornado Outbreak Rips Midwest
The death toll continues to mount tonight, as the storms that moved thru Southern California on Friday ripped into the Midwest today and early Sunday morning.
FOX 2 KTVI in Saint Louis, MO, is one of the first media outlets using the new Digital Doppler DP to pinpoint tornadoes and their debris fields.
Here is the quote from Chris Higgens, from the station's Facebook page:
"Large and destructive tornado on the ground right now northeast of Falun, KS. Another EXCELLENT example of what we at Fox 2 will be able to show you when tornadoes are on the ground within 60 miles of STL in many cases!"
"This is brand new technology that allows us to confirm a tornado without the aid of a spotter on the ground...which is especially useful at night!"
At least 5 people are confirmed dead in Oklahoma tonight, including 2 children.
Stay tuned to CNN and your local affiliates to track these dangerous twisters, the action will be moving eastward and to the south and upper Midwest on Sunday...
