Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments
Gastric Bypass Weightloss Success
I'm Santino Pirrone, a 36 year old married man with 2 pre-teen daughters needed a way to save my life.
You can watch my weightloss journey on YouTube here:
Like many people, I grew up overweight. All thru high school I was the "bigger" kid. And, like many, I did my share of the typical yo-yo diets, weight-suppresant medications, and just plain starving myself to lose the weight. Having suffered a workplace injury early in my life, I found it almost impossible to get to the gym and excercise.
On May 8th, 2009 I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in Hamilton, Ontario. Going into the surgery at 350+lbs, it was a last-ditch effort to prolong my life. It was a decision that took me a long time to make but I felt I had no choice. It was the best decision of my life. The first 100 days post-op, I lost 100 pounds. 1 year post-op, I was down 145 pounds. Now, 2 years post-op, I weigh 176 pounds. Having lost 175 pounds, I can honestly say I have never felt better in my life. I suffered from sleep apnea prior to surgery, high blood pressure, trouble breathing... the list goes on and on. Now, I feel amazing. I wake up every morning feeling like I had the best sleep i've ever had. I cant say enough about this surgery, it truly saved my life.
Anyone interested in this surgery do their homework. Go online, find support groups, call people who have had the surgery and ask as many questions as you can. Once you are satisfied that the surgery is right for you, and only then, should you go for it.
Many thanks to the medical fields, the doctors, surgeons and especially to the special friends for all the support
