Reflections of The Rose Way Pilgrimage in Bangkok, Thailand

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     My parents are both Thai, but I was born and raised in California. After 22 years, I wanted change. So I decided to come to Thailand to see what my parents' hometown holds. Being in Thailand for the past 3 months, gave me many opportunities to learn about Thai culture and also Buddism. The most recent event that I was able to witness was the pilgrimage of 1,500 monks walking on rose petals through the busy city of Bangkok, Thailand. This, like I said, is something that has never happened before.

This is the first time for a pilgrimage of 1,500 monks and novices, walking through a busy city on rose petals has taken place. This happened for the first time in a well known popular most traveled to destination of Bangkok, Thailand. The sight of seeing thousands and thousands of people of different race, religion, and background all coming together to witness and pave rose petals for the thousands of monks and novices walking in this pilgrimage is truly something unforgettable.

I never thought that I would see an event of such peace and beauty take place before. Thailand really brings out the beauty in the little things that we think is impossible to happen.

I decided to capture the videos and snap the pictures because of the peace that I felt as I watch these monks walk through the hectic city. Not often do we see news about peace in the world, since nowadays the news are filled with war, drama, and disasters... but what we really need is peace.

I believe that for thousands and thousands of people of different race, religion, and background to come together to pave rose petals for these monks as they walk in this pilgrimage is something that can really impact the world.

This is something that everyone should see sonthat everyone in the world can see that there is still peace and beauty in the world. Being able to experience this event is something memorable and very magical for me. I hope that everyone who sees this can feel the amazement that i felt as the monks walk through the city bringing the people peace and serenity.
