    Italian Cartoonist

Alessandro Gatto from Italy was the winner of Grand Prize of the 14th PortoCartoon-World Festival, organized by the Portuguese Printing Press Museum, under the theme "The rich, the poor, the protester."

The second prize was awarded to Felipe Galindo, a Mexican living in USA, with a work for the Free Category section, and the third ex-aequo to Turcios, from Colombia, and to Valery Doroshenko, from Ukraine.
The quality of the works, led the international jury to award Honourable Mentions to 12 artists from different countries, such as: Belgium, Brazil, China, Spain, France, Iran. Mexico, Portugal, United Kingdom

In appreciation were about two thousand works, from hundreds of artists from all the continents. Iran is the country with more participants - 70 artists and 258 works - followed by Brazil, Turkey, Romania and Portugal.
With this participation, PortoCartoon reinforces its place on the podium of international contests of cartoon and gives more relevance to the classification of Porto as the “capital of the cartoon”, in 2008.

The international jury of 14th PortoCartoon was chaired by Georges Wolinski, (France) and the following members: Peter Nieuwendijk, President General of FECO (Netherlands); Xaquin Marin, former Director of the Museo de Humor Fene (Spain), Luís Mendonça, Representative of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto and Luis Humberto Marcos, director of the Portuguese Printing Press Museum.

The winners of the 14th PortoCartoon will receive their trophies and prizes during the opening ceremony of the exhibition to be held on the Portuguese Printing Press Museum, in 23 June, during the S. João of Porto festivities
    .
Several hundreds of thousands of visitors have seen the thirteen editions of PortoCartoon that took place on the Portuguese Printing Press Museum, and in the several cities where exhibited, including countries as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, France, Spain and Mexico.
