The illness of Taiwan's medical environment
The fourth year in university life, I was a intern in a hospital, the hospital has ONLY 11 PT(with license), but 34 PT students(no license). I learned clinical technique there, but I also had to provide treatment independently for patients. A large number patients with few PT, so we students need to share patients from PT, even we shared, we even have 7~8 patients at a time. You can guess"How much of the patients?" And you can say"PT students is the labor source of the hospital." Because PT students in Taiwan have no salary, the hospital hire just few PT to treat many many patients.
After I graduated from my school, and I passed the exam to got the license.I want to work in a hospital, but they always said "they have enough PT", they don't want to pay more money to hire a PT. As a result, I interviewed in clinics. The boss of clinic said to me"the salary of PT just 25~30 thousands, and the loading in clinic is more than in hospital. Recently ,a popular topic of rehabilitation is that the folk therapist can work in hospital, clinics, and self opening independently and legally. The folk therapist has no formal education, no license, no medical background. But they can do medical behavior, they even can do that without doctor's order, and get much money without Taiwan National Health Insurance . It makes the quality of medical environment worse and worse. Taiwan National Health Insurance system makes people abuse medical resource , medical stuff insufficient , medical stuff has high loading work but low paid, and medical stuff transfers to other occupation. People who really needs medical behavior can't better care. Not only doctors and nurses but also all kinds of medical stuffs suffer from the Taiwan National Health Insurance System. The politician should not always fight in The Legislative Yuan, but face the issue.
