    Memories of Dick Clark

My funny photo with my old boss Dick Clark

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sioux57 worked with Dick Clark in the 1980's. This photo was taken during one of their annual holiday parties she says. 'He threw the best holiday parties for the company and he would invite other people in the industry,' she says. 'I was watching CNN and my son asked who the man on television was and I told him "actually he was my boss." And my son didn't believe me. So I pulled out this photo yesterday and here he was wearing a name tag. I thought it was really endearing.' She also says that her fondest memory of Dick Clark was when he gave her his first desk after he moved to the west coast for American Bandstand. 'He helped me load his antique desk into my car,' she says. 'He would show random acts of kindness like that.'
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

I used to work for Dick Clark. Attached is a photo of both of us at the December 1988 company holiday party. What is so funny (other than my outfit and hairdo) is that Dick is wearing a name tag. Even though he was paying for the entire party (including giving away television sets and boom boxes) and his name was on our paychecks, and he was one of the most recognizable faces in America, he had on a paper name tag with the name "Dick Clark" on it at his own party. Very endearing.

He and Kari gave away great holiday gifts. That year we each got a gold clock from Tiffany's with the dc insignia on it. On top of that, Kari gave me a red leather purse because I used to be nice to her four dogs that she and Dick would bring into the office every day.

I have many happy memories of working at Dick Clark productions. May he rest in peace.
