Does racism still exist, and where does it start? |
Trayvon Martin|Guns vs Racism
Bill Cosby's recent remark that a gun, not racism, was behind the murder of Trayvon Martin was unfortunate and thoughtless.
Guns are just another tool employed by racists against people of color. Guns may not even be their weapon of choice, viz: hang nooses, pitch forks, bombs, water canons, dogs, burning crosses and house burnings, & so on.... The gun used by Zimmerman to murder Trayvon Martin was no more the cause of this hellish deed than was the hoody.
To ignore the history of race-driven violence against people of color is to be stuck in a state of auto-hypnosis. Not even Leander Perez, nor Bull Connor, nor David Duke would ever have contemplated making such a remark.
