Memories of Dick Clark
Dick Clark Mr. Rock and Roll
Bobby socks, a gray felt skirt with a pink poodle sewn on the side and a tight pink sweater, complete with a long pony tail. Yes, I was ready, that should do it. Oh, but almost forgot that little fuzzy detachable collar with the bouncing balls, it was almost time for Dick Clark's American Bandstand. In my own little tween world, the race was on with who would be the first to run downtown Providence, Rhode Island to purchase the first #1 single on a fresh pressed 45 record. I know some of you probably still have your number one singles in that special little carrying case tucked away somewhere in your attic! Those were real treasures. And of course who didn't want to be Justine Carrelli and Bob Clayton, the most popular dance couple on his show. American Bandstand was always something to look forward to and Dick Clark never disappointed his audience. Those years were filled with sock hops, "twisting" and "strolling" on the East Coast, he truly made us all a part of "Happy Days"
